Deceased Estate House Clearances

We have an excellent track record of working with both Solicitors and Estate Agents. They often use us to help clear multiple properties within the Gloucestershire and surrounding areas, asking for our help with dealing with deceased estates.

House clearances often occur as a result of a bereavement, thus making the removal and resale of a loved one's possessions both a difficult and emotionally challenging time. We have always undertaken deceased estate work with both professionalism, empathy and the sensitivity that it deserves.

Since no one situation is ever exactly the same, we are happy to tailor our service to best suit our client's needs. This can mean that we clear properties in stages, including working with family members to leave rooms with some furnishings remaining, to increase the likelihood of selling the property.

FAQs

Below are some of the questions that we are asked about deceased estate house clearances.

  • Who pays for a house clearance?

If a house is to be cleared after the passing away of a loved one, it is the duty of the next of kin or executor of the will.

  • How long do you have to clear a property after someone has died?

If the property of the person who has passed away was a rental one, you would need to have the property clear and the keys handed back by the end of the notice period.

If the property was owned by the person who has passed away, the solicitor handling the estate will be able to give you an idea of timescales.

  • Can a house be cleared before probabte?

No, you can't clear a house before probate has been granted. This is because the deceased house may contain valuable assets such as jewelry, antiques, and cash.

  • Do you take all the items to landfill?

The vast majority of items from a deceased estate that are no longer wanted by family members are repurposed or recycled.

We do our best to minimize the amount that goes to landfill. Including taking clothing to charity shops, and towels to vets.

Items that we have been unable to donate, or repurpose will be taken to a local waste recycling center to be disposed of in the most environmentally kind manner available.

  • Are you a licensed waste carrier?

Yes we are a fully licensed waste carrier, we are more than happy to provide evidence of this if requested.

  • What areas do you cover?

We are based in Wotton Under Edge which puts us in a great geographical location to cover all of  Gloucestershire and The Cotswolds, Thornbury, Yate, Bristol, and surrounding areas.
